This reversible bag is inspired by the traditional Japanese Kinchaku bag (巾着) — a drawstring pouch once used in daily life because kimono had no pockets. In the past, kinchaku carried personal items such as coins, cosmetics, or small keepsakes, and were often seen in the hands of geishas as elegant accessories during festivals and special occasions.
Reinterpreting this timeless design, the bag features two sides:
- One in luxurious Italian gold nappa leather, soft and modern,
- The other in authentic Japanese cotton fabric adorned with a crane motif.
In Japanese tradition, the crane (tsuru) symbolizes longevity, good fortune, and fidelity. It is one of the most celebrated symbols in Japanese culture, often associated with weddings, blessings, and the wish for a long, prosperous life.
